I am starting to work again now, quite a relief as I don't have any money.
I updated the products at my two shopping sites
findit.mt9.net and shop.mt9.net
Made a new design layout for my new site about Lake Atitlan.
In the days to come I will be adding a mailing list and current events to the new Lake Atitlan site.
More soon...

New Website about Lake Atitlan
I am creating a new website to help my friends on Lake Atitlan. It has a few good restaurants, hotels, hostles and bars. I will be updating and adding to this often.
Go here to check it out --> lake-atitlan.com

Lake Atitlan My Casa
OK a few more pictures from my house.
There was this big old dead tree behind my house on public land, it had a note on it in Spanish that basically said please don't cut this tree I love to sit here. Well, I woke up one morning to this guy cutting it down. I did not really want to get between some tree huggin hippy and a local with an axe so the tree is now gone.

This is my guestroom, it needs a tent still, but I think its the nicest room at my house

I have been adding a few things to my alter, here is a current picture.

Afternoon coffee is a little different then the table at shambala coffee house. Many days I sit on the wall in front of my house and watch the lake.

Sunset photo of the lake and Vulcan San Pedro from right below my house at the water.

And another. Vulcan San Pedro, Lake Atitlan, Guatemala.

Lake Atitlan Sunset Hike
Sometimes I take a hike around the point above my house. Here are some photos from one of those sunset hikes on Lake Atitlan. The path through the rocks below my house is really pretty. ![]() Its kind of a cloudy day but this is nice for the end of rainy season on Lake Atitlan. This is a picture of Vulcan San Pedro. ![]() This is a really cool flower, stay tuned for my Lake Atitlan Flower Collection Photo album. ![]() Sometimes you have to check your feet before you enter sacred space. ![]() Sacred fire circle, kept nice and clean and used recently. ![]() Me sittin in a tree (self photo) ![]() West view of Lake Atitlan from higher up the point. ![]()
Lake Atitlan Boat Ride
I went on a boat ride to a place near Santiago, Lake Atitlan with my friend, he dosn't like photo's so you won't see him today. Here is a brief view of my trip accost Lake Atitlan on a very small boat.
Santiago is on the bay between all three Volcano's here we go...

Here we dock at my friends place accost the bay from Santiago, Lake Atitlan.

I smoke a cigarette and watch the boat from the avocado tree, while my friend takes a walk to the top of his land.

This is what happens when old rainbows get a little crazy from trying to defend an organic community in Guatemala from the locals.

On the way back we stopped to fill gas in Santiago and got some water.

On the way back to San Marcos La Laguna, Lake Atitlan.

View of my house from the boat.

Here is a picture of my friends alter for luck...

Jopa's Story continued...
I went to the market in Solola to visit the paca (the paca is used clothing from the US or other countries). Solola is up in the mountains on the rim above Lake Atitlan, you can see Lake Atitlan from many parts of town. In this first picture the lady is giving me the "gringo with a camera" look. You can see the piles of clothing and bargain clothing shoppers. ![]() Here we have the back view of the "gringo with a camera" lady and more shoppers. ![]() There were a few soldiers in the main central park, chillin with their rifles. ![]() Here is a good example of women in traditional and men in modern dress. This is usually what you see around Lake Atitlan. ![]() Another market shot, string is easy to find in Guatemala. ![]() This kind of stuff is all over Lake Atitlan, I always have to stop and look when I see a stand with this many belts. ![]() The ride home on the chicken bus can seem a little blurry up front. ![]()
Jopa's Story
I live in San Marcos La Laguna now. On Lake Atitlan in Guatemala until april 07. Here are some pictures of my walk last week before the steady rains came. ![]() I like to hang out on these rocks and take in all the magic. ![]() These yucca like plants are all over, word on the streets is that the spines make you very numbed out if you get pricked, I havent tried it yet. ![]() This is a nice view of Volcano San Pedro, with the village of San Pedro to the right ![]() Here is a nice view of the west side of the lake. San Pedro on the left. San Juan in the center. ![]() This is part of the stairway down to the lake from the house I lived in last year. ![]() More stairway. ![]() Looking back up at the stairway ![]() Great view of both volcanos! ![]() And another. ![]() Volcano San Pedro through the trees. ![]() Here is my little casa. This is my yard. ![]() My yard from the other side, and the side of my house. This is where I hang out outside and can watch beutiful Lake Atitlan. ![]() The front of my house, looking at the wall and the the lake. ![]() View along the front of my house. ![]() This is where I hang out inside. Altar, table, fireplace and chair. ![]() This is the view out towards my yard from inside where I hang out. ![]() Same view as above, a five steps back and blured. ![]() View out the front window. The small hill you can see in the distance is where I lived here last year. ![]() My yard, from inside the house. ![]() My kitchen, bed, etc. ![]() I will continue to add pictures and stories about my adventures in San Marcos and at Lake Atitlan. Peace!
